The Science of Trade Conference (SOT) is an Ascend Studios Foundation initiative designed to empower African entrepreneurs to navigate the complexities of local and international trade and unlock opportunities for growth and success. The conference provides comprehensive training on export readiness, trade facilitation, digital trade, e-commerce, and the utilization of trade policies.

SOT Washington DC
SOT Washington DC will be held in Q4 2024 as a showcase with 20 unique Nigerian brands that are ready for the U.S. market.The focus is promoting Nigerian brands in the U.S. market and connecting Nigerian businesses with potential American partners and customers.
SOT Lagos
The 2024 SOT is focused on intra-country, intra-Africa, and Global trade. The conference explores opportunities in the Africa Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Furthermore, the conference fosters connections among entrepreneurs, trade professionals, and key stakeholders within the trade ecosystem, creating a supportive community that fosters trade, knowledge sharing, collaboration, and business growth.
SOT Goals
SOT aims to empower 50,000 entrepreneurs yearly to thrive in the trade landscape by providing them with essential knowledge, fostering connections, and overcoming barriers to local and international trade, and promoting intra-African and global trade opportunities. The conference encourages intra-country, intra-African, and global trade by providing information and resources on opportunities within these markets.

The focus on AGOA and AfCFTA aims to inform entrepreneurs about the benefits and procedures involved in utilizing these trade agreements.
