Day 2 of the Africa Creative Market Session which focused on the musical element of the initiative commenced with a vibrant start, featuring an opening speech by Bada Akintunde Johnson, the Country Manager at Paramount. He eloquently highlighted the significance of the music industry in Africa and shed light on the offerings of the Africa Creative Market (ACM).

Following this, the event received a significant boost with a speech from United States Consul General Will Stevens, who expressed his support for the globalisation of African music, recognizing its cultural and economic importance.

The first panel, expertly hosted by VJ Adam, centred on the future of Africa’s music globalisation. The panellists, including Asa Asika, Isioma Nwaruocha, and Motolani Lake, offered diverse and valuable insights from their respective roles within the industry. Efe Omoregbe, CEO of Buckwyld Media, provided a keynote speech that paved the way for the subsequent panel session. Hosted by Ilooise Omohinmin, this panel delved into MTV Base’s “Inside Life” Season 2 New Wave, featuring cast members Rexxie, Liya, and Eltee, who shared their unique experiences and perspectives.

The event then transitioned into a captivating masterclass conducted by Lanre Masha, focusing on African artists collaborating with international artists. Obi Asika followed with a keynote address that emphasised the importance of nurturing the domestic Nigerian market. The following panel, hosted by Ilooise Omohinmin and featuring James Afuwape and Olukorede Kay Ikazobah and Joshua Iyamu explored the realm of digital platforms and streaming. The insights provided shed light on the ever-evolving landscape of music distribution.

The final panel session, hosted by Ify Igwe, delved into the role of AI in music distribution and rights management. Distinguished experts such as Eclipse Nkasi, Ayoola Ogunyomi, Bayo Fatoba, Adetutu Laditan, Tope Salami, and Dedren Snead discussed the future of music in the digital age. The Africa Creative Market Session underscored the vibrancy of the African music industry and provided a unique platform for industry experts, artists, and innovators to collaborate and shape the future of African music. The exchange of ideas and fresh perspectives that emerged from this dynamic event promises to propel African music to new heights on the global stage, fostering creativity and innovation within the industry.
